Make Jesus the Center of Your Life: A Call to Focus on What Truly Matters

  In his Sunday Mass homily at Saint Michael Kalibo, Bishop Romie-Jun urged us to make Jesus the center of our lives. He emphasized that God does not judge us for acquiring possessions; rather, He intervenes when those possessions begin to control us. This distinction is crucial because it highlights the importance of our priorities and the condition of our hearts.   First and foremost, the readings for the day offer powerful reminders about prioritizing God. The first reading emphasizes that to fulfill God’s purposes in our lives, we must place Him above all else. Furthermore, the second reading encourages us to hold fast to Jesus as the Lord and the focal point of our existence. In today’s world, distractions abound—whether from work, wealth, or other pursuits—that can easily shift our attention away from God. Therefore, it is essential to recognize that all blessings come from Him. When we fail to acknowledge this truth, we hinder our ability to share what we have received.   Moreover, the Gospel reinforces the idea that prosperity flows from making Christ the center of our lives. We are reminded to "number our days" so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. When we actively number our days, we begin to develop the insight necessary to ask the right questions. For instance, the rich young man approached Jesus, eager to learn how to inherit eternal life. Although he had faithfully followed the law, Jesus pointed out one crucial thing he lacked: he needed to sell his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him. Sadly, the young man turned away, unable to let go of his earthly attachments. This moment illustrates how Jesus, recognizing the young man's struggle, spoke the truth out of love.   Ultimately, to truly know Jesus means placing Him at the very core of our hearts. We must vigilantly guard against allowing anything to interfere with our relationship with the Father. Instead of becoming obsessed with material possessions, let us focus on the One who generously provides for us. In doing so, we not only deepen our faith but also experience true fulfillment and wisdom. Remember, make Jesus the center of your life to unlock the abundance He has in store for you.

God Establishes Family Through Covenant: A Reflection on Bishop Romie-Jun's Homily

In his Sunday Mass homily at Saint Michael Kalibo, Bishop Romie-Jun emphasized a profound truth: God establishes family through covenant. The family is the first institution created by God and serves as the foundational building block of our society. This sacred union begins with marriage—a covenant made between a man, a woman, and God. Moreover, marriage is not just a social contract; it is God’s design for human relationships. This highlights the important truth that each of us is created to thrive in connection with others. When couples enter into this covenant, they establish a framework for love, support, and commitment. Importantly, marriage is God's idea, not man's idea. In this sacred partnership, we must remember that the relationship is equal; woman was taken from the side of man, neither above him nor below him. It is God who calls people into marriage, and this is precisely how God establishes a family through covenant. Furthermore, children, the fruits of this union, are blessings that flow from a family deeply rooted in God’s love. They serve as a testament to the power of the covenant, nurturing the next generation within a sacred family structure. In addition, Bishop Romie-Jun encourages us to recognize the importance of prayer in our family lives. Prayer not only strengthens family bonds but also deepens our connection to the love of Christ. As we seek to honor the covenant God establishes within our families, let us commit to supporting one another through prayer, thereby fostering an environment of love and faith. Be Ambassadors of Christ's Love

As we commemorate our 42nd Church Anniversary, we are blessed to hear a brief yet inspiring message from +Bp. Romie-Jun Peñalosa. He encourages our congregation to remain steadfast in our mission as ambassadors of Christ's love in this world. As Christians, we encounter daily struggles. For instance, Bishop recalls how, during our Family Day at the beginning of our anniversary month, a typhoon struck us unexpectedly. Even on our actual Anniversary Date, we faced a power interruption. Nevertheless, he reminds us not to be discouraged because we know that Christianity is not a life of convenience and comfort. Instead, we continue to rejoice in the hope of eternal life with God. On this special occasion, we also reaffirm our duty to evangelism. We must actively step into the world to share the Good News. +Bp. Romie-Jun Peñalosa emphasizes that as we commemorate our 42nd Church Anniversary, we should never tire of fulfilling the Great Commission. We are instruments of God's hands, serving as ambassadors of Christ's love in the world. Moreover, this anniversary provides us not only a chance to look back but also an opportunity to look forward with joy. Joy is a choice, and today we choose to celebrate joyfully. Anniversaries hold profound significance in the life of the Church, allowing us to reflect on God’s enduring presence among us while anticipating the possibilities of transformation. Let us stand firm in faith, follow Christ closely, and embrace the confidence that comes from living in His love as His ambassadors.
