How to be God's disciple

How to be God's disciple

In this Sunday's Mass homily at Saint Michael Kalibo, +Bp. Romie-Jun Peñalosa shared a powerful message on how to be God's disciple. Drawing from today's Gospel on discipleship, Bishop Peñalosa reminded us that following Christ requires wholehearted commitment. He highlighted four practical ways on how to be God's disciple. First, put God first. God calls us to love Him above all else. When we prioritize our relationship with Him, He guides and strengthens our relationships with others. Second, take up your cross. Carrying our cross is an essential part of being Christ's disciple. It means choosing unconditional love, extending forgiveness instead of seeking revenge, and following Jesus' example. Even as He hung on the cross, Jesus chose to forgive. Third, lose your life so that you may find it. True discipleship calls us to surrender our lives to God and generously share ourselves with others. When we give selflessly, we discover the fullness of life that only Christ can give. Finally, show love every day, even through the smallest acts. No act of kindness is ever too small in God's eyes. Every gesture of love, no matter how simple, reflects Christ and never goes unnoticed by the Lord. May we continue to live out these four truths as we grow in faith and learn how to be God's disciple each day.
